Reiki is an ancient form of healing, accessing the universal energy that flows through all. It is a relaxing, natural holistic process, helping the body-mind system heal from within. Reiki refers to the universal ki energy, that essential life force that flows through all creation. It works on deep levels within the mental and emotional fields, thus rebalancing the body/mind system and aiding physical healing. Reiki is, therefore, beneficial, not just when someone is in ill health, but it is also good for reducing stress and improving general well-being. Because Reiki works on the energetic levels of the body system it is a gentle, non-invasive therapy and so particularly suitable for babies and children, as well as adults.
Did you know that Reiki is used in major hospitals throughout Great Britain and in hospitals in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia? In the UK and around the world, the benefits of Reiki are beginning to be recognised by the community. As a result of this, Reiki is now being used in a wide variety of settings in the UK, including many parts of the National Health Service. For example, at the University College Hospital in London both full-time and part-time practitioners have been employed to give Reiki to patients, particularly those with life threatening diseases. The UK Reiki Federation has a "Pioneers" group and this includes about twelve members who are working with Reiki in hospitals or hospices..
The image below shows the positions of the body's energy centres, or chakras. The energy healer will work with these energy centres, allowing the Reiki to flow through them and rebalance the body/mind system.
